Construction crews already patched sections and installed new road adjacent to the future PRTX stations. Work will continue overnight from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Saturday. Some barriers and channelizers will remain in place until road work begins on the opposite side of the road next week.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Milling and paving on Fifth Avenue from Craft Avenue to Kirkpatrick Street will begin in early May.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Intersections, along with pedestrian and business access, will be maintained throughout the construction zone. Flaggers will help direct traffic. Street parking will be suspended on both sides of the roadway within the work zone.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">In addition, fencing has been \u200b and sidewalks in most locations along Fifth Avenue between Bellfield and Craft \u200b are now open to pedestrians. A small amount of \u200b around the electrical conduit at the future station locations will remain in place until the shelters are installed. All bus stops have been restored.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Pedestrians will benefit from the installation of new sidewalks, curbs, and ADA-accessible ramps. Traffic will then shift to the right, with three lanes remaining open while the two left lanes &ndash; including the former counterflow lane &ndash; close. This will allow crews to rebuild the roadway and sidewalks and prepare for the future two-way bike lane. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Further along Fifth Avenue &ndash; from Craft Avenue to Kirkpatrick Street &ndash; traffic will be reduced to a single through lane, with a second lane designated for turns onto the Birmingham Bridge. At the same time, construction will move to the south side of the street as crews begin sidewalk and roadway reconstruction in that section. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">From Kirkpatrick Street to Diamond Street, traffic is already reduced to a single lane up to Pride Street and will now be extended to Diamond Street as crews complete utility work, sidewalk installation, and accessibility upgrades. Final milling and paving in this section are scheduled for June. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Throughout the construction corridor, access to intersections and local businesses will be maintained. Parking will remain restricted along both sides of Fifth Avenue within work zones. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Pedestrian access will continue to be provided through temporary walkways and ADA-accessible ramps. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Beginning May 5, several bus stops will be temporarily impacted. Bus stops to be temporarily removed from service include:</p><ul class=\"release-content-list release-content-list--bulleted release-content-list--align-inherit\"><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Seneca Street</span></li><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Gist Street</span></li><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Van Braam Street</span></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: left\">Bus stops relocating to the opposite side of the intersection are:</p><ul class=\"release-content-list release-content-list--bulleted release-content-list--align-inherit\"><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Kirkpatrick Street</span></li><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Wyandotte Street</span></li><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Dinwiddie Street</span></li><li><span> \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b Fifth Avenue at Pride Street</span></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: left\">Work hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overnight milling and paving operations taking place between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Weekend work may occur as needed, and all construction activities are weather dependent. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Motorists are advised to observe construction signage and reduce speed through the work zones.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">New sidewalks will be installed along nearly the entire length of Fifth and Forbes avenues in Uptown as part of the project. Crews will apply the final topcoat on the roadway in June in conjunction with final road restoration of Fifth Avenue between Craft Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">However, the road may be closed intermittently during work hours as crews continue to perform work at the intersection and sidewalks.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">While new curbs have been placed on Kirkpatrick Street between Fifth Avenue and Beelen Street, contractors continue to install new sidewalks on both sides of the road.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\"> this week, the new \u200b permitted parking lot opened on Kirkpatrick Street.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">Other construction activities at the intersection include \u200b restoration, new curbs and sidewalk on the north side (facing downtown) of Fifth Avenue, installation of new traffic signals and pedestrian safety signals, and pouring the concrete slab for the future PRTX bus station.
