Installation of Drainage Infrastructure to Continue at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street Next Week

The PRT contractor completed final water line connections at Sixth and Liberty Avenues last week.

Next week, weather permitting, installation of drainage infrastructure will continue at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street within the construction fencing. After the drainage work is finished, the contractor will begin temporary restoration of the work zone.

Currently, two travel lanes on Sixth Avenue adjacent to the Wood Street Station are closed. Vehicles traveling on Sixth Avenue are forced to turn left or right onto Wood Street. One travel lane is maintained, so that vehicles traveling on Liberty Avenue can turn right onto Sixth Avenue.

Electrical Work for Traffic Signals Will Resume Next Week at Multiple Locations

Groundwork for 35 new traffic signals, that will ultimately support the University Line bus rapid transit project, will resume next week.

Over the next few weeks, the PRT electrical subcontractor will be working weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the following locations:

Fifth Avenue and Cherry Way (Kauffman’s building garage)

  • Fifth Avenue and Wood Street
  • Sixth Avenue and Centre Avenue (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
  • Liberty Avenue at Seventh Street (involves roadway work)

Each location has additional work to be performed. The contractor will move between the various locations to help keep the project on schedule.

Thank you for your continued support of this project.
