On May 31, PRT’s contractor erected a work zone on Fifth Avenue between Smithfield Street and William Penn Place (adjacent to Citizen’s Bank Building) to build BRT/PRTX William Penn Place Station.

Construction activities include replacing the roadway, curb and sidewalk. In addition, electrical crews are placing foundations and running conduit that will supply power to the new bus shelters and new traffic signals.

When construction is complete, this station will have a new 30-foot bus shelter with an ADA compliant loading zone, new sidewalk and new granite curb.

Station amenities will include a ticket vending machine, emergency phone, security camera(s), seating, lighting and new wayfinding signage.

Two-directional traffic is being maintained. The sidewalk remains open across from the work site.

Construction fencing is expected to remain in place 24/7 until late fall.
