On May 31, PRT’s contractor erected a work zone on Fifth Avenue between Ross Street and Sixth Avenue (adjacent to BNY Mellon Service Center) to build BRT/PRTX Ross Street Station.

Construction activities include replacing the roadway, curb and sidewalk. In addition, electrical crews are placing foundations and running conduit that will supply power to the new bus shelters and traffic signals.

When construction is complete, this station will have a new 15-foot bus shelter with an ADA compliant loading zone, new sidewalk new granite curb with accessible ramps.

Station amenities will include an emergency phone, security camera(s), seating, lighting and new wayfinding signage. This station will not have a ticket vending machine because of its close proximity to Steel Plaza Station.

Two-directional traffic is being maintained. The sidewalk remains open across from the work site.

Construction fencing is expected to remain in place 24/7 until late fall.
