This week, contractors completed final paving on both sides of Forbes Avenue between Boyd and Pride streets along with side street intersections at Boyd, Shingiss, Magee and Stevenson streets, Chatham Square, and McAnulty Drive.

Crews also this week milled and paved Fifth Avenue from Diamond Street to Sixth Avenue and the left turning lane on Sixth Avenue from Fifth Avenue to Forbes Avenue. Crews will pave the right (north) lane of Fifth Avenue in the next two weeks.

Crews are completing paving on both sides of Forbes Avenue from Jumonville to Brady streets. The side street intersections on both sides of Forbes Avenue at Jumonville, Seneca, and Moultrie streets are also being paved.

Intersections on the right (south) side of Forbes Avenue and Marion, Van Braam, Miltenberger, Gist, and Seneca streets are expected to be completed by Saturday, October 24.

Beginning Monday, October 26 crews will mill and pave both sides of Fifth Avenue between Craft Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street at the Birmingham Bridge.

Kirkpatrick Street will be closed at Fifth Avenue on Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27 and intermittently throughout the rest of the week between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Boulevard of the Allies west bound on ramp from Fifth Avenue will be closed for up to two hours on Friday, October 30, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as milling and paving operations take place at the on ramp.

Traffic will shift on Fifth Avenue between the left and right lanes during the week as crews first mill the road and intersections before applying asphalt. One lane of traffic will be maintained during construction.

Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and stay alert for changing traffic conditions.

While bus stops will remain in service, riders will need to board and exit buses at street level.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change. PRT will have flaggers and staff to assist riders boarding and exiting buses.

While construction is weather dependent, sidewalk restoration throughout the University Line corridor in Uptown and Oakland is anticipated to be completed by April 2027.

PRT Board members, CEO Katharine Kelleman and senior staff members traveled to Oakland following today's board meeting to observe ongoing and completed University Line construction.

The group visited the future bi-directional bike lane on Fifth Avenue and asked questions regarding the construction schedule, recently installed traffic islands, and gained an understanding of what the bike lane will look like when completed.

The group also stopped at the recently installed shelter on Forbes Avenue at Schenley Drive. In addition to the shelter components and amenities, participants got to view the bike lane, rain garden, new traffic signals, pedestrian safety systems, improved cross walks, and accessible curbs.

The tour was conducted by Amy Silbermann, Chief Development Officer, and Justin Bhagat, Manager of Engineering, Special Projects. “Showing our Board the construction progress and ongoing work is critical to their understanding of the process and progress to date, and allows them to ask questions to ensure we’re building the best possible project. We’re grateful to the Board and Senior Team members for getting out there to experience the system with us and showcase how this project will support the corridor," Silbermann said.
