Parking Restrictions to be Implemented on Forbes Avenue in Uptown
October 1, 2025

Several blocks of on-street parking along Forbes Avenue in Uptown will be temporarily removed beginning Monday, October 6, as construction crews expand work on Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s University Line project.
Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Forbes Avenue between Gist and Jumonville streets to allow two lanes of traffic to safely move through the active construction area, which begins at Jumonville Street.
In addition, crews will eliminate the parking lane on the left side of Forbes Avenue between Jumonville and Brady streets while replacing the sidewalk. Parking on the opposite side of the street was suspended last month.
Construction will take place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of December. Work may also be performed on Saturdays as needed.
Side streets and intersections will remain open during construction. Pedestrian access will be provided with temporary crosswalks and ADA-accessible ramps.
