PRT Contractor is Preparing for Final Water Main Connections at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street Next Week

The PRT contractor is installing a new 12-inch water main at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street. Installation for the water main began last week, and final tie-in connections are scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 20th at 9:00 a.m. and should be completed by Friday, March 22nd at 9:00 a.m.

During that time, two travel lanes on Liberty Avenue, adjacent to Wood Street Station between Seventh Street and Wood Street, will be closed. The contractor will maintain one travel lane in each direction on Liberty Avenue, opposite Wood Street station.

After work is completed Friday morning, the traffic restrictions will be removed from Liberty Avenue.

Construction fencing remains in place on Sixth Avenue between Wood Street and Liberty Avenue adjacent to Wood Street Station.

Currently, two travel lanes on Sixth Avenue heading toward Liberty (adjacent to Wood Street Station) are closed. Vehicles traveling on Sixth Avenue are forced to turn left or right onto Wood Street.

One travel lane is maintained so vehicles traveling on Liberty Avenue can turn right onto Sixth Avenue.

Underground utility work on Sixth Avenue, between Wood Street and Liberty, is expected to continue through the middle of April.

Additional construction activities are scheduled to begin in the spring.
