PRT, Pittsburgh Forestry Department Collaborating on University Line Related Tree Removal and Planting

If you live, work or go to school downtown, you may have noticed that some of the city trees are scheduled for removal to accommodate University Line construction. Pittsburgh Regional Transit is only removing trees where it is absolutely necessary to support infrastructure improvements and ADA compliance.

PRT has coordinated closely with the City of Pittsburgh Forestry Department throughout the process, and after construction is complete, we will plant more trees than we’re removing. University Line construction is a significant investment in our city’s infrastructure, and will include new sidewalks, ADA ramps, protected bike lanes, traffic signals and landscaping in addition to an increase in the number of trees in the city.
