Early next week, PRT’s contractor will begin to erect the first PRTX shelter at Ross Street Station located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Ross Street.

Ross Street Station will serve as a demonstration model and will be closed to the public until all components have been tested.

When construction for the University Line is complete, there will be five new PRTX stations in the downtown corridor.

Waterline Relocation Nearly Complete at Forbes Avenue and McKee Place

PRT’s contractor relocated a water main at Forbes Avenue and McKee Place in Oakland. To complete this work, they will connect the existing properties to the new water main.

The contractor will continue to work overnight between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. To accommodate this work, two travel lanes and a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the HERE Pittsburgh apartment building will be closed. Traffic restrictions will be removed during the day.

The contractor will perform temporary restoration to the roadway and sidewalk, before moving on to the next location.

Later in the year, PRT’s contractor will be back to perform permanent restoration, expand the sidewalk and curb, and prepare the site for a new 60-foot bus shelter with transit amenities.

Sewer Inspections and Catch Basin Replacements to Continue on Forbes Avenue in Uptown

PRT’s contractor is inspecting underground drainage infrastructure using CCTV technology in coordination with catch basin replacements in Uptown. There will be three crews working Monday through Friday at the following locations:

  • Forbes Avenue between Jumonville Street and Birmingham Bridge
    • 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Fifth Avenue between Diamond Street and McKee Place
    • 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Crews will move between multiple locations within each zone as work is completed. All drainage infrastructure within the limits of the project along Fifth and Forbes Avenue will be inspected before catch basins are replaced.

Work will require a partial lane closure providing access to the manhole and/or catch basin on or near the curb. Traffic restrictions will be removed at night.
