Sidewalk Restoration on Fifth Avenue in Uptown
PRT’s contractor took advantage of favorable weather before the snowfall to frame and pour concrete for the curb and sidewalk along Fifth Avenue stretching from Gist to Jumonville streets. The fresh concrete is protected by plastic and construction blankets.
Contractors have already completed excavation, utility relocation, running conduits for station power, and are now replacing the existing sidewalk, curbs, and accessible ramps.
In addition to the new bus stations, the University Line project includes new sidewalks on most of Fifth and Forbes avenues in Uptown.

Utility Coordination Continues Throughout the University Line Project
Construction for the University Line has required close and constant coordination with a myriad of utilities to minimize unexpected work conflicts. Utilities such as gas, water, sewer, electric, and cable companies all have underground systems that must be relocated before new PRTX stations can be built.
This allows utilities to be repaired and maintained without disrupting the new bus station.

The University Line Corridor
When construction for the University Line is complete, there will be 24 PRTX stations throughout Downtown, Uptown, and Oakland.
PRT continues to work closely with stakeholders including community groups, universities, businesses, and other impacted groups during construction.
PRTX stations will have new shelters with upgraded amenities, including next-bus arrival screens, fare vending machines, seating, lighting, emergency phones, and security cameras.
