PRT’s contractor recently completed roadway restoration and installation of a new bus lane on Sixth Avenue between Smithfield Street and William Penn Place adjacent to Mellon Garage.

The intersection has been modernized to include new traffic signals and crosswalks, accessible pedestrian signals, push button audible signals and illuminated countdown signs.

Last year, the contractor relocated water and drainage infrastructure before installing a new expanded sidewalk, new curb, and accessible ramps.

While this location is not one of the PRTX station locations, the new infrastructure improves safety and accessibility for everyone.
