On May 20, PRT’s contractor established a new work zone on Sixth Avenue between Fifth Avenue and Diamond Street (adjacent to the Allegheny County Family Division Building).

Current construction activities include installing new water and drainage infrastructure, expanding the sidewalk, replacing granite curbs and installing accessible ramps.

While this is not a PRTX station location, the new infrastructure will improve safety and accessibility for everyone.

This block of Sixth Avenue, between Fifth Avenue and Diamond Street, had a very narrow sidewalk. When construction is complete, this block of Sixth Avenue will have an expanded sidewalk with accessible ramps and granite curbs.

Two-directional traffic is being maintained. The sidewalk remains open across from the work site.

Construction fencing is expected to remain in place 24/7 until late fall.
