The University Line Weekly Update

Around 6 am tomorrow, construction for the University Line on Fifth Avenue between Market Street and Liberty Avenue will move to the other side of the street.

The center lane and the lane closest to Market Square will both be closed.

The one travel lane closest to Triangle Park will reopen to traffic. Basically, private vehicles will travel in the same direction but will be moved to the opposite side of the street.

Bus detours will remain the same.

The contractor continues to perform exploratory excavation and installation of a storm drain. This work is expected to take 2-3 weeks.

The construction detour remains in place at 5th Avenue and Liberty Avenue. The detour will remain in effect 24/7 until work is finished at this location, which is scheduled to happen in mid-October.

The contractor is scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7AM-5PM, weather permitting. The contractor may work on Saturdays if needed to keep the project on schedule.

Thank you for your continued support of this project.
