University Line Construction to Impact Traffic Near Wood Street Station

Additional roadway restoration efforts will continue near Wood Street Station in downtown Pittsburgh over the next two weekends, Pittsburgh Regional Transit announced today.

Contractors will restore Sixth Avenue between Liberty Avenue and Wood Street and Liberty Avenue between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street Friday evening through Monday morning for the next two weekends. The work will start each weekend at 6 p.m. on Friday and end by 6 a.m. on Monday.

During the work, Sixth Avenue will be closed between Wood Street and Liberty Avenue, and Liberty Avenue will be reduced to two lanes between Seventh Street and Sixth Avenue both weekends.

Bus routes 61A, 61B, 61C, and 71B will pick up and drop off at Smithfield Street at Sixth Avenue instead of Trintiy Cathedral. Buses will return to regular service at 6 a.m. both Mondays.

This work is part of Phase I of the ongoing University Line construction project. Once complete, the University Line will better connect downtown Pittsburgh and the city’s Oakland neighborhood.
