The rules of the red bus lanes:
- Private vehicles, cyclists, and delivery vehicles are not permitted to use the bus lanes except when making right turns.
- Drivers and cyclists should merge into the right lane behind buses only when red dashed lines are present.
- Vehicles should not make right turns from the center lane, and should never cut in front of buses.
- Pickups and drop-offs should be made on a side street or dedicated loading zone.
Always be aware of your surroundings and pay close attention to signage and pavement markings. Port Authority Police have already begun enforcement, and tickets will be issued beginning October 1st.
