On December 19, 2023, Pittsburgh Regional Transit Board Members recognized outgoing County Executive Rich Fitzgerald for his longtime support of transit investment, bus rapid transit and the University Line project.

The County Executive will end his third and final term at the end of the year, and some PRT Board members also have reached their term limits and will be leaving the Board.

This event was held alongside an active University Line construction zone on Sixth Avenue between Grant and Ross streets.

“From the very beginning, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has been a champion for the University Line project,” said Letwin. “Without his support and willingness to prioritize this project in the county, the construction occurring today would not be possible."

As you may know, Rich is leaving the County Executive’s office soon, although he’s not going far and will remain involved in transit and transportation in his new role at Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission.
