On Jan 22, PRT’s contractor established a work zone on Sixth Avenue between Wood Street and Liberty Avenue (adjacent to Wood Street light rail station) to build Wood Street BRT/PRTX Station.

Last winter, the contractor installed new water and drainage infrastructure.

Current construction activities include replacing the roadway, sidewalk and curb. In addition, electrical crews are installing foundations and running conduit that will supply power to the new bus shelter and new traffic signals.

When construction is complete, this station will have a new 30-foot bus shelter (adjacent to the K&L Gates building) with an ADA compliant loading zone, new roadway, new expanded sidewalk, new granite curb and accessible ramps.

Station amenities will include a ticket vending machine, emergency phone, security camera(s), seating, lighting and new wayfinding signage.

Sixth Avenue is closed to inbound traffic between Wood Street and Liberty Avenue. One outbound travel lane is maintained so vehicles traveling on Liberty Avenue can turn right onto Sixth Avenue. The sidewalk remains open across from the work site.

Construction fencing is expected to remain in place 24/7 until late fall.
