Work Completed Ahead of Schedule at Fifth Avenue and Market Street
Construction to repair a drainage issue adjacent to Market Square PRTX Station in downtown Pittsburgh was completed on Wednesday over a week ahead of schedule.
Sections of Market Street and Fifth Avenue closed on October 20 to allow PRT contractors to repair a drainage issue that was causing water to collect at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Market Street.

Drainage Installation Underway at Washington Place
Beginning Monday, October 27, PRT’s contractor began removing sidewalks and curbs to install underdrain and replace existing curb and sidewalk at Fifth Avenue and Washington Place.
Pedestrians attempting to cross at Washington Place and Fifth Avenue will be temporarily redirected to cross on Fifth Avenue at PPG Paints Arena. Washington Place heading towards Forbes Avenue will be reduced to one lane during construction.
Work in this location is expected to take three weeks.

Utility Relocation Continues in Uptown
PRT’s contractor continues to relocate drainage infrastructure along both Forbes and Fifth avenues in Uptown. Stormwater inlet relocations are needed to match the new expanded sidewalks and curbs.
This work will require a partial lane closure providing access to the manhole and/or catch basin on or near the curb. Traffic restrictions will change as work progresses and moves within the zone. Lane restrictions will be removed each night.
